What it does
A kit builder for classic MPCs
A kit on a classic MPC is a program: a .PGM file that tells the machine which sound each pad plays, with the sounds in the same folder. Making one on the hardware means loading every sample and assigning pads one by one on a small screen.
This kit creator does that part on your computer. Drop your samples on the pads, check that the kit fits the machine's memory, and export a ZIP with the program and its sounds, converted to the 16-bit, 44.1 kHz audio the machine plays.
Each machine has its own page because each has its own pad layout, memory and file format. Your sounds stay on their pads when you switch between machines.

Questions and answers
- Which MPC models does the kit maker support?
- The MPC 2000XL, MPC 1000, MPC 2500 and MPC 500. The MPC 2000XL gets its own .PGM format with .SND sounds; the MPC 1000 and MPC 500 get their own .PGM formats with .WAV sounds; the MPC 2500 gets the MPC 1000's format, which it loads directly.
- Which audio files can I use?
- WAV files of any bit depth and sample rate, including 24-bit and 32-bit float. Other formats such as MP3 and FLAC work when your browser can decode them. Everything is converted to 16-bit, 44.1 kHz.
- Does it work for the MPC Live, One or MPC Software?
- It is made for the classic machines. Newer MPCs can usually load these older programs, although individual settings do not always carry over; the MPC file guide explains the differences.
- Is it free, and are my samples uploaded?
- It is free. Your samples are not uploaded: they are read, converted and packed into the ZIP in your browser, and nothing is sent to a server.
